However, flow direction may be both locally and <br /> seasonably variable. <br /> Duck Creek is the nearest surface water feature to the property,-located approximately 750 feet south <br /> of the site. Duck creek contains water on a seasonal basis and is not likely to have a significant effect <br /> upon ground water depth or flow direction in the area. <br /> { 3.0. SITE INVESTIGATION ACTIVITIES <br /> On 21 September 1998, AGE personnel conducted soil sampling activities at the site. Sampling <br /> activities were conducted by AGE personnel under supervision by a California Registered Geologist. <br /> Detailed field procedures and protocols are presented in Appendix A. Soil sample laboratory analysis <br /> are discussed in Section 4.2. <br /> L Well (boring)permits were obtained.from the PHS-EHD prior to performing the soil probe boring <br /> activities. Prior to mobilization, each boring location was clearly marked and utility clearance <br /> obtained through Underground Service Alert. <br /> 3.1. SOIL PROBE BORINGS <br /> A total of four soil probe borings(B-1 through B-4)were advanced within the area of the former fuel <br /> L dispenser and former UST locations (Figure 2). Soil probe boring B-1 was advanced in the <br /> approximate location of the former fuel dispenser and adjacent to the western end of the former Tank <br /> 1 excavation.Boring B-2 was located at the approximate location of the west end of the former Tank <br /> i.. 1 excavation. Soil probe boring B-3 was located at the approximate location.of the former Tank 2 <br /> excavation. Boring B-4 was advanced south of the former fuel dispenser and UST area, adjacent to <br /> the concrete wash pad and separator. Each soil probe boring was advanced to a total depth of <br /> �.► approximately 31 feet bsg. All soil probe boring locations and total depths were approved by on-site <br /> PHS-EHD staff. Soil probe boring procedures are presented in Appendix A. <br /> r <br /> 3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> i <br /> Discrete soil samples were collected from each of the soil probe borings(B-1 through B-4) at five- <br /> foot intervals from ground surface to the total depth of the boring. Soils were visually described and <br /> logged in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS). Boring logs are presented <br /> in Appendix B.
