10 March 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0137
Monitoring:
Quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling will be performed at the site on monitoring wells
MW-1 through MW-8 throughout the remediation period to monitor remedial progress.
Influent vapor concentrations, effluent vapor concentrations at the thermal oxidizer unit and the
operational parameters (combustion temperature, volume of processed vapor, oxygen level and the
Iower explosive limits (%LEL) or organic vapor level will be monitored on a weekly basis to ensure
optimal destruction of recovered hydrocarbo.. vapor and to monitcr clean1ip progress. Depth to.
ground water and dissolved oxygen measurements will be collected on a monthly basis to determine
the effects of the IAS system.
Laboratory reports for vapor analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC)reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in quarterly reports.
Upon the completion of six months of SVE system operation or when efficiency of the SVE unit has
declined, `progress' monitoring of the remediation should be conducted. Soil samples will be
collected from the "core" area of petroleum hydrocarbon impact at the site. After a minimum
duration of 12 months of operation, soil samples will be collected from the known petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted soil at the site for`verification' monitoring. Analytical results of soil samples
will be utilized to reassess the remaining petroleum hydrocarbon mass and to determine whether or
not continued remedial action is necessary.
Upon PHS-EHD approval of the RAWP,AGE will procure all necessary permits.AGE will schedule
field inspections with your office 48 hours in advance of field activities.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact the undersigned at{209) 467-1006.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
W
William Little
Staff Geologist
cc: Mr. Alan Fetters
Mr. James DeMera esq. - Mullen, Sullivan&Newton
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
