1 <br /> ' Site Background Information - Ripon Farm Service <br /> • Page 8 of 9 <br /> 1 <br /> CONFIRMATION SOIL AND GROUND WATER SAMPLING <br /> ' Based on analytical data collected from the SVE progression and the ground water wells, <br /> confirmation soil and ground water collected from within the area ofpetroleum hydrocarbon-impact <br /> ' at the site were required to determine if continuing remedial operation was necessary and serve to <br /> approximate remaining petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations <br /> On 14, 15,and 17 October 2003,five soil probe bonngs(CB-1 through CB-5)were advanced at the <br /> site under oversight of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) Probe <br /> boring CB-1 was advanced adjacent to monitoring well MW-1, CB-2 was advanced was advanced <br /> adjacent to boring B4, boring CB-3 was advanced between vapor wells VW-I and VW-11, boring <br /> CB-4 was advanced between boring B4, vapor wells VW-3, VW-1, and air-spargmg well IAS1, <br /> while boring CB-5 was advanced adjacent to the north property boundary, between well MW-2 and <br /> ' vapor well VW-7 Probe borings were advanced to a total depth of 45 feet bsg,a grab ground water <br /> sample was collected from each boring at 40 feet to 45 feet bsg, except at CB-3 <br /> ' Soil samples were collected from the probe borings at 5-foot intervals, starting at 5 feet bsg, using <br /> a Geoprobe soil sampling device Confirmation borings CB-1,CB-2,CB-4,and CB-5 were sampled <br /> ' for ground water A Geoprobe water sampling assembly was advanced to a depth of 45 feet bsg, <br /> equipped with a pre-cleaned, 4-foot by 1-inch outside diameter, temporary well with 0 01-inch, <br /> slotted well screen was lowered to the bottom of the bore hole Each ground water sample was <br /> extracted by lowering a modified Teflon tube bailer into the screen section of the temporary wells <br /> After sample retrieval,the water samplers were disassembled and cleaned New Teflon tubing was <br /> used to collect each sample The water samples were collected in three laboratory-supplied, <br /> t 40-milliliter (ml) VOA vials containing 0 5 ml hydrochlone acid solution (18%) as sample <br /> preservative and in one l-liter amber bottle without a sample preservative Collected samples <br /> preserved for laboratory analysis were placed in a chilled container and transported under chain of <br /> ' custody Confirmation soil and grab ground water samples were analyzed for <br /> a TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and <br /> ' a BTEX and the oxygenated fuel additives MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, EDB, and <br /> 1,2-DCA in accordance with EPA Method 8260 <br /> A total of thirty-six soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g,TPH-d,BTEX,and MTBE Only twenty <br /> soil samples were analyzed for the suite of five fuel additives by EPA Method 8260 Modified <br /> a TPH-d was detected in soil samples CBI-20, CB2-20, CB3-20, and CB5-20 at <br /> concentrations of 490 mg/kg, 1,300 mg/kg, 610 mg/kg, and 160 mg/kg <br /> ' a TPH-g, BTEX compounds, and fuel additives were not detected in the soil samples <br /> • ADDITIONAL GROUND WATER ASSESSMENT <br /> ' Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc <br />
