23 February 2006
. AGE-NC Project No 04-1214
using an Oakton water analyzer Purged ground water was containerized in properly labeled,
Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and stored on-site Field sheets and
data are included in Appendix B
2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Ground water samples were collected from the purged wells using new disposable plastic bailers
after allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume Each
sample was transferred into three 40-milliliter(ml)EPA-approved volatile organic analysis(VOA)
vials and three 1-liter amber bottles Samples were properly labeled, stored in a chilled container and
transported under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory, for analysis Each sample was analyzed
for
• Chlorinated Pesticides and Herbicides in accordance with EPA 8141 and EPA 8151 and
• Ammonia, nitrate and pH in accordance with EPA Methods 350 2, 300 and 150 1
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
10 January 2006, contaminant impact to ground water was quantified from laboratory data
3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
Depths to ground water during the January 2006 monitoring event ranged from 2191 feet(MW-103)
to 25 53 feet(MW-101)below the tops of the well casings The calculated ground water elevations
ranged from 3 5 17 feet (MW-104) to 3 5 41 feet (MW-102) above MSL The ground water flow
direction was inferred to be west to northwest, at a ground water gradient of 0 0006 foot/foot(ft/ft)
northwest of well MW-101 The groundwater flow direction and gradient are depicted in Figure 3
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Chlorinated pesticides were not detected in the ground water samples from the wells at Ripon Farm
Service Additionally, ammonia and nitrates were not detected in the ground water samples collected
. from monitoring wells MW-101 through MW-104 at RFS The pl-I values ranged from 7 0 (MW-
Advanced GeoEnvironmentat,Inc
