1
13 December 1999
' AGE-NC Project No 95-0137
MTBE was reported in the ground water sample collected from well MW-3 at a concentration of 3 4
' µg/l DIPE and TBA were also reported in various samples collected during the October 1999
monitoring event at concentrations up to 6 9µg/1 and 170µg/1, respectively ETBE and TAME were
not reported In samples collected from the site
Petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates were not detected above the reporting limits in the
sample collected from the domestic well on the Jimco site
Analytical results from ground water samples for each monitoring event analyzed by EPA Methods
' 8015 Modified and 8020 are summarized in Table 2 Analytical results for ground water samples
analyzed by EPA Method 8260 Modified are summarized in Table 3 A copy of the laboratory report
(MAI Lab ID Numbers 23553 through 23565), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and
' chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B
' 4.0 CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected during the October 1999 monitoring event, AGE concludes
M • The greatest concentrations of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in shallow ground water
appears to be in the areas of MW-2 and MW-3
• Analytical results of ground water samples collected from the air sparging wells (VW-1B,
VW-2B), screened between 30 and 35 feet bsg, indicate that the dissolved hydrocarbon
' plume extends at least 15 feet into the saturated zone
• MTBE, reported at low concentrations only in MW-3, does not appear to be widespread at
' the site
5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based upon ground water data collected from the site, AGE recommends the following
• Advancement of at least one additional soil boring in the area of VW-1B and VW-2B to
' investigate the vertical extent of dissolved hydrocarbons The boring should be advanced to
a depth of at least 50 feet and depth-discrete ground water samples should be collected
• The next monitoring event should be scheduled for January 2000 The RFS and Junco Truck
Stop monitoring should be coordinated and data from both sites combined to develop more
comprehensive illustrations of ground water flow elevations and the lateral extent of
dissolved hydrocarbons
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
