' 16 March 1998
AGE-NC Project No 95-0137
and 20 ppb, respectively DIPE, ETBE and TAME were not detected in any of the wells sampled
Analytical results of ground water samples for each monitoring event analyzed by EPA methods
8015m and 8020 are summarized in Table 2 Analytical results for ground water samples analyzed
by EPA methods 8260m are summarized in Table 3 The laboratory report (MAI Lab ID Numbers
85233 through 85237), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and chain-of-custody are
included in Appendix B
' 4.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
41 CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected during the January 1997 monitoring event, AGE concludes
' • The highest concentration of gasoline related dissolved hydrocarbons continues to be in the
area of monitoring well MW-2, located near the northern edge of the site TPH-g
lie concentrations detected in well MW-2 to date have been at a maximum of 14,000 ppb
Current TPH-g concentrations represent two-thirds of the maximum contaminant detected
' • Detectable concentrations of TPH-g increased in a majority of the wells over the last quarter,
except well MW-3
• Over the last quarter, TPH-d concentrations increased in wells MW-1 and MW-2, and
' decreased in wells MW-3, MW-4 and MW-5 The highest detection of TPH-d was from the
samples collected from well MW-2
• Benzene concentrations detected in well MW-2 to date have been at a maximum of 1,400
ppb, represented by the current concentration Benzene concentrations decreased in wells
MW-1 and MW-3 and increased in well MW-2
' Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene concentrations generally increased in wells MW-1 and
MW-2 and showed no significant change in well MW-3 Trace concentrations of toluene and
' xylenes were detected in the water sample collected from MW-4 No BTE&X compounds
were detected in well MW-5
• All of the BTE&X concentrations fell within previous highs and lows for each compound,
' indicating that the observed changes are probably natural fluctuations and may not indicate
long term trends
' The oxygenated compound MTBE was detected only in the sample from well MW-3
However, TBA was detected each well, except well MW-5 The distribution of TBA has not
been delineated
