' In August 1995, five additional soil borings (B9 through B13) were advanced at the site. Two borings were completed as ground water monitoring wells west and south of the previous three wells ' (MW-4 and MW-5). During drilling, ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 20 feet bsg. ' • TPH-g was detected in four soil samples at concentrations as high as 23 mg/kg. TPH-d was detected in six soil samples at concentrations as high as 1,900 mg/kg. Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons(benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene,and total xylenes: BTEX)were not detected in any of the soil samples analyzed. • One grab ground water sample was collected from boring B13 located northeast of the ' former USTs. Both TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the grab water sample at concentrations of 6,500 gg/l and 450,000 µg/l, respectively. BTEX compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) were not detected in these samples. ' • • With the exception of sample ASB 13/10, the concentrations of TPH-d significantly exceeded concentrations of TPH-g in the soil samples analyzed. Sample ASB 13110 contained 1.0 ' mg/kg TPH-g and less than detectable concentrations of TPH-d. In October 1996, three soil probe borings (B14 through B16) were advanced on the Jimco Truck ' Stop located immediately north of the site,and one boring was advanced on the site (B17). During drilling, ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 20 feet bsg. ' • TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in three of eight soil samples analyzed at concentrations ranging from 1.4 mg/kg to 240 mg/kg and from 2.0 mg/kg to 1,700 mg/kg, respectively. Toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes were detected in the same three samples at concentrations as high as 1.2 mg/kg(xylenes,B 15-10').Neither benzene nor methyl tertiary- butyl ether (MTBE) were detected in the soil samples analyzed. • Grab ground water samples were collected from three borings(B 14,B 16, and B 17).TPH-g was detected in the grab ground water samples collected from B 14 and B 16 at concentrations of 2,400 µg/l and 130µg11,respectively. TPH-d was detected in all three grab ground water ' samples at concentrations ranging from 210 µg/l to 5,400 µg/l. Low concentrations of toluene,ethylbenzene,and xylenes were also detected in two of the three grab ground water samples. Neither benzene nor MTBE were detected in the grab ground water samples. • TPH-d concentrations exceeded TPH-g concentrations in three of the eight soil samples analyzed,the remaining five soil samples did not contain detectable concentrations of either ' Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc.
