' 16 December 2005
• AGE-NC Project No. 04-1214
Page 4of8
1
3.0. PROCEDURES
' Th '
e monitoring well installation and sampling of ground water monitoring wells were performed in
t accordance with CVRWQCB guidelines. Quarterly ground water monitoring activities (including
well development) were conducted on 17 October 2005; monitoring wells MW-101 through
MW-104 were monitored and sampled. The well elevations were surveyed on 29 November 2005.
1
3.1. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND DEVELOPMENT
' Four on-site ground water monitoring wells(MW-101 through MW-104 )were installed on 10 and
11 October 2005, developed and sampled on 17 October 2005.
1
3.L 1. Drilling and Sampling
' The four soil pilot borings for monitoring wells MW-101 through MW-104 were advanced using a
CME-75HT drill rig, equipped with 8.25-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. The drill rig and three-
in I an
hree-rnan crew were supplied by Cascade Drilling Inc.Auger returns generated by drilling were stockpiled
on plastic sheeting onsite, pending laboratory analysis of any soil samples.
' Soil samples were collected ahead of the drill bit using a California modified split-spoon sampler.
The samples were collected from monitoring well pilot borings MW 101 through MW 103 at five-foot
intervals, beginning at 5 feet below surface grade (bsg) using a 140-pound hammer to advance the
' sampler. The number of blows required to advance the sampler over each 6-inch increment of the
18-inch sampling interval was recorded,on the boring logs. Soil samples were not collected for pilot
' boring MW 104.No soil samples were preserved, so no analysis was conducted on the soil from the
pilot borings.
3,1.2. Logging
Soil collected in the California modified split-spoon sampler from pilot borings MW 101 to MW 103
and soil from drilling cuttings for pilot boring MW 104 was visually described on a boring log in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (see Appendix A).
3.1.3. Well Completions
' • Soil pilot borings M W I01 through MW 104 were completed as groundwater monitoring wells using
1 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
1
