Site Background Information - Ripon Farm Service Page 3 of 8 1 hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)were detected in twelve samples at concentrations ' as high as 9,000 mg/kg. The maximum concentration of TPH-g was detected in sample B4-20; the maximum TPH-d was detected in sample B8-20. • TPH-g was detected in ground water samples from MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 at concentrations of 1,700 micrograms per liter(µg/1),14,000µg/l,and 2,600 pg/l,respectively. TPH-d was detected in the MWA, MW-2, and MW-3 samples at concentrations of ' 2,400 µg/l, 9,200 µg/l, and 6,900 µg11, respectively. • With the exception of one sample(134-20), concentrations of TPH-d exceed concentrations of TPH-g in the soil samples. In August 1995, five additional soil borings (B9 through B13)were drilled at the site. Two borings were completed as ground water monitoring wells west and south of the previous three wells(MW-4 and MW-5). During drilling,ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 20 feet bsg. ' • TPH-g was detected in four soil samples at concentrations as high as 23 mg/kg. TPH-d was detected in six soil samples at concentrations as high as 1,900 mg/kg. Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene,and total xylenes: BTEX)were not detected ' in any of the soil samples analyzed. • One grab ground water sample was collected from boring B13 located northeast of the ' former USTs. Both TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the grab water sample at concentrations of 6,500 µg11 and 450,000 µg/l, respectively. BTEX compounds were not detected in these samples. With the exception of sample ASB 13/10, the concentrations of TPH-d significantly exceeded concentrations of TPH-g in the soil samples analyzed. Sample ASB 13110 contained 1.0 mg/kg TPH-g and less than detectable concentrations of TPH-d. In October 1996, three soil probe borings (B14 through B16) were advanced on the Jimco Truck Stop located immediately north of the site, and one boring was advanced on the site (B 17). During drilling, ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 20 feet bsg. • TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in three of eight soil samples analyzed at concentrations ranging from 1.4 mg/kg to 240 mg/kg and from 2.0 mg/kg to 1,700 mg/kg, respectively. Toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes were detected in the same three samples at concentrations as high as 1.2 mg/kg (xylenes, 1315-10'). Neither benzene nor MTBE were ' detected in the soil samples analyzed. • Grab ground water samples were collected from three borings(B 14, B 16, and B 17).
