31 October 2063
AGE-NC Project No 95-0137
' After recording water level measurements, disposable plastic bailers were used to purge the wells
of standing water Approximately 3 to 5 5 gallons of water(a minimum of 3 casing water-volumes
per well)were removed from MW-1 through MW-5,well MW-2 was purged dry after three gallons
' of water were removed 5arnrl6 tv.r 12-a
Ground water temperature,pH and conductivity were measured at regular intervals during purging
using an Oakton water analyzer Purged ground water was containerized in properly labeled
DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and'was stored on-site Field sheets and data are
included in Appendix A
2 2 2 Collection and Analysis of Ground Water Samples
Water to samples were collected from the purged wells using new disposable plastic bailers after
' allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume Each sample
was transferred into three 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials and into one
1-liter amber bottle Samples were properly labeled, stored in a chilled container and transported
' . under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL) a California Department
of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory in Paramount Each sample was analyzed. for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel and motor oil (TPH-g,TPH-d
' and TPH-mo) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and
• BTEX compounds and the oxygenating fuel additives methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),
' tertiarybutyl alcohol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE)and
tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME), ethylene dibromide(EDB)and 1,2 dichloroethane(1,2-
DCA) in accordance with EPA Methods 8260
1
' 3.0. FINDINGS
From field and laboratory data collected at the SVE remediation system between May to
' September 2003, AGE determined the average TPH-g concentration, the average flow rate and
calculated the approximate mass of hydrocarbons removed Ground water elevation, flow direction
and gradient were determined from field data collected on 14 and 16 May 2003, the contaminant
' impact to ground water was quantified from the ground water laboratory data
R
3 1 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
• The SVE unit was operated continuously during the period between 07 May to 10-September 2003
The unit operated at an average extraction flow rate of 135 cubic feet per minute (cfm) An induced
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
