t08 June 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Prol ect No 95-0137 <br /> ' Page 4 of 9 <br /> ' 26 SVE START-UP <br /> The Solleco Ecat 250 SVE system began operation on 30 November 2000, when three-phase power <br /> ' was connected to the system from the main building on the site <br /> The initiation of the SVE operation was observed on 05 December 2000 by representatives of the <br /> San Joaquin Unified Air Pollution Control District (APCD) and of the PHS-EHD The SVE unit <br /> operation is conducted in accordance with APCD permit N-4428 (Appendix B) <br /> Measurement of the SVE flow rate, vacuum (potential), concentrations of the extracted soil-vapor <br /> and collection of a set of soil-vapor samples were observed by the APCD personnel The samples <br /> were collected to document baseline concentrations of hydrocarbon vapor in the soil-vapor extracted <br /> ' by the SVE network and to determine the SVE hydrocarbon destruction rate <br /> ' 27 SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION <br /> The SVE system was monitored weekly for the first month of operation and monthly thereafter <br /> During each monitoring event, the flow rate of extracted soil-vapor (influent) was measured using <br /> an electrical DPT flow meter Vacuum potential was at two and one-half inch influent line using a <br /> ' magnehelic vacuum gauge <br /> The organic-vapor concentration in the extracted soil-vapor stream was measured before entering <br /> the blower (influent stream) and after exiting the catalytic unit (effluent stream) using an organic <br /> vapor meter(OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector PID (Thermo Environmental 580A, <br /> 10 OeV, calibrated to isobutylene 100 ppb) <br /> ' Six sets of soil-vapor samples were collected during the first quarter of operation (Fourth quarter <br /> 2000 and First quarter 2001) Samples were collected on 05 December, 14 December, 20 December <br /> 2000, 04 January, 23 January and 27 February 2001, and 09 April 2001 in Tedlar vapor bags using <br /> a vacuum pump attached to the influent and effluent stream The samples were labeled, placed in a <br /> pre-chilled cooler and transported under chain-of-custody to MAI The samples were analyzed for <br /> ' • TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified and <br /> • BTEX compounds and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8020 <br /> ' The results of the laboratory analysis are summarized in Table 2 <br /> 1 <br /> ' Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
