' 15 January 1997
AGE-NC Project No 95-4137
' the dissolved hydrocarbons plume The location of monitoring well MW-4 appear to be near
the western margins of the dissolved hydrocarbon-plume Well MW-5 appears to be near the
southeastern extent of the dissolved hydrocarbons plume
' • The highest concentration of dissolved hydrocarbons continues to be in the area between
MW-2 and probe boring B14, and between MW-2 and MW-3 Between August and
December 1996, hydrocarbon concentrations increased in all wells except MW-5
• The lateral extent of the dissolved hydrocarbons has not been determined northwest of probe
boring B 16, north of probe boring B 14 or northeast and east of MW-3 and boring B 13 v J
' • Hydrocarbon-impacted ground water encompasses both the former RFS UST area and the
adjacent portion of the Jimco Truck Stop property, as depicted in Figure 4 -Estimated Extent
o,f hydrocai bon Impacted Ground Water
4 2 RECOMMENDATIONS
I• Based on ground water data collected from the site, AGE has the following recommendations
• AGE anticipates that additional ground water samples will be required northwest of probe
t boring B 16, north of probe boring B 14 and north and east of well MW-3 to determine the
lateral extent of hydrocarbon-impacted ground water Once the lateral extent of impacted
ground water has been determined, additional monitoring well(s)may be required to monitor
' the dissolved hydrocarbon plume
• If remediation of soil and/or ground water is required at the site, a Corrective Action Plan
' (CAP) should be prepared The CAP should include remediation feasibility studies (e g in-
situ air sparging pilot test and soil vapor extraction, bioremediation and natural attenuation),
if necessary, to determine appropriate remedial options for the site
' • The next quarterly monitoring at the site should be scheduled for March 1997
1 50. LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
' upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic
conditions at the site have been made from a limited number of available data points (1 a borings
and monitoring wells), and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points No other
' warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this
