' samples collected in May, the highest concentration of hydrocarbons in samples collected
in August were detected in MW-2, near the northern property line According to the
calculated flow direction (see Figure 3), MW-2 is currently down-gradient of the former
UST locations However, MW-2 was up-gradient during the previous monitoring event
1
Representatives of RFS have reviewed UST information concerning the Jimco Truck Stop
' site Information obtained from the PHS/EHD indicates that four underground storage tanks
are located on the Jimco site: one 7,500-gallon unleaded gasoline tank, one 10,000-gallon
unleaded gasoline tank, one 12,000-gallon diesel tank, and one 550-gallon waste oil tank An
' oil-water separator is also present on the property The tanks are owned and operated by
Olympian Oil Co
According to RFS, no information regarding a possible previous site assessment for the
UST's at the Jimco site was found in the PHS/EHD files However, a PHS/EHD inspection
report dated May 28, 1994, states that pump dispensers were observed to be leaking fuel
' The dispensers were repaired, but no soil or groundwater testing was performed Other
information in the PHS/EHD files indicate that hydrocarbons were observed in a stormwater
' retention pond on the property
Based upon the information obtained from the PHS/EHD files and results of groundwater
monitoring at the site, it is conceivable that petroleum hydrocarbons released from
' dispensers or UST's on the Jimco property have the potential to impact soil and
groundwater on the RFS site Further assessment or remediation activities for RFS should
be coordinated with similar activities on the Jimco property
t6.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily
' exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings
were based upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of
the geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are
' made from a limited number of available data points (i a monitoring wells) and subsurface
conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied,
is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
I '
 t
C-1.
