5.4 CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
5.1 Hydrocarbon Impacted Soil
Hydrocarbon impacted soil at the site extends to depths of at least 25 feet Since
groundwater depth at the site is approximately 20 feet, much of the impacted soil is within
the saturated zone
tGasoline impacted soil is greatest at the western portion of the site, near B4 and MW2.
However, diesel impacted soil is more evenly distributed throughout the site
' 5.2 Hydrocarbon Impacted Groundwater
' Hydrocarbon impacted groundwater is present in all three monitoring wells on-site The
highest concentration of hydrocarbons is in MW2, along the northern property line TPH
as gasoline is present in concentrations five times as great as MW3 and eight times as great
as MW1 According to the calculated flow direction (see Figure 3), MW2 is up-gradient of
both UST locations at the site
' The analytical results indicate that petroleum hydrocarbons, at least in part, may be
migrating on-site from the property immediately north of Ripon Farm Service (Jimco Truck
Stop) It is likely that Jimco currently maintains, or has maintained in the past, UST's A
file/permit search of the Junco site should be undertaken to determine the quantity and
locations of possible USTs'
The extent of hydrocarbon impacted groundwater has not been determined at the site. The
PHS/EHD may require the installation of additional groundwater monitoring wells to
determine the extent of the groundwater impaction
1 --
b_0 LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily
exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings
' were based upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of
the geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are
' made from a limited number of available data points (i a monitoring wells, soil samples)
and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty,
expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this
' report
1
12
Rya.Rm S.rvrce QA/194g13 S
