MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING <br /> Ripon Farm Service <br /> 22871 South Highway 99 <br /> Ripon, California <br /> ' June 1994 <br /> 1.4 INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with a request from Mr Bruce McCandless, Geological Audit Services, Inc <br /> ' (GeoAudlt) has prepared this report summarizing assessment and monitoring activities <br /> performed during April and May of 1994 at 22871 South Fhghway 99 in Ripon, California <br /> (the site) Three monitoring wells and four soil bonngs were installed and sampled The <br /> purpose of this investigation was to assess the lateral extent of affected soil and potential <br /> groundwater contamination, and determine the direction of groundwater flow beneath the <br /> ' site The project background, procedures, findings, and conclusions are presented in the <br /> following sections <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> ' 2.1 Site Location <br /> The site is located in a flat industrial area in northern Ripon, east of Jack Tone Road <br /> (Figure 1) The site is operated by Ripon Farm Service An automotive shop is located <br /> near the northeast corner of the site. An office building and truck scale are located at the <br /> southern corner The remainder of the site is predominantly gravel A Jimco truck stop is <br /> ' located to the north of the site A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2 <br /> 2.2 UST Removal <br />' It is our understanding that four ) <br /> g (USTs tanks a stora underground were removed from the <br /> g <br /> site on July 15, 1987. One 10,000-gallon diesel tank (Tank #1) and one 7,500-gallon diesel <br />' tank (Tank #2) were located near the tuning shop, one 10,000-gallon unleaded tank (Tank <br /> #3) and one 10,000-gallon diesel tank (Tank #4) were located approximately 120 feet east <br /> of the shop (Figure 2) <br /> One sample was collected below each UST The samples were collected at depths between <br />' 18 and 21 feet below ground surface (bgs) Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil <br /> samples collected below tanks #1, #2, and #3 at the time of removal The laboratory <br /> I' <br />
