Chevron U.S.A. - Page 4
For more detailed information regarding the results of
chemical analysis, please refer to the attached Certified
Analytical Reports.
The aerating soil. was field screened at the time of
composite sampling. The field screening was conducted with
and HNu photoionization detector. The locations sampled and
results obtained are presented on Plate 3 at the end of the
.text. It should be recognized that field screening can be
affected by site conditions and should not -be interpreted
as quantitative results.
At the request of Mr. John Randall of Chevron U.S.A. ,
at the commencement of the aeration process it was specified
to loosely-place a lift of soil for aeration without benefit
of periodic mechanical aggravation. Although chemical
analysis of composited samples suggest the aeration process
has been substantially successful, some detectable
hydrocarbons yet remain in apparent isolated areas of the
treated stockpile.
As the chemical analysis of the stockpiled soils
reported concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons, it is
Dames & Moore's opinion that the current remedial action plan
needs to be slightly modified. At your request, and in
DAMES & MOORE
