Samples were to be taken to
evaluate the concentration of the petroleum hydrocarbons The San Joaquin County Air
Pollution Control District evaluated the test results and established aeration
criteria for their permit
Excavated petroleum-contarmnated soils were to be spread m lifts and aerated.
Aerated soils were to be periodically composite-sampled and chemically analyzed to
evaluate the presence of remaining petroleum. At the request of the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board, treated soils were to be used as compacted fill
for backfilling the excavations
•
S 0 REMEDIAL ACTION
Site activities associated with the aeration portion of the soil remediation
process commenced on March 20, 1990 The first few months of the aeration process
consisted of spreading hydrocarbon-contaminated soil and allowing it to aerate for
several weeks without being tilled. This process continued until August 22, 1990,
when a more aggressive aeration process commenced which included tilling each lift of
contaminated soil for several days.
. 16000-250-044
DAME'S & MOORE
