Field screening of soils exposed in
excavation DI-2 indicated that detectable concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbons were present at a depth of about 20
feet. Based on the field screening, the excavation was
ry enlarged laterally and vertically. On January 25, 1990 the
limits of excavation DI-2 encroac`aEd into the area previously
underlying DI-3 (Photo 2) . To provide access for the
excavation equipment to the bottom of the hole, a ramp was
created on the east side of the excavation (Photo 3) . The
ramp accessed a bench located about 7 feet below grade.
Three soil samples were obtained from the limits of
E. excavation on January 26, 1990, between the location of DI-1
and DI-2. The samples were obtained on the excavation
{ e sidewalls and from the bottom of the excavation. Results of
analyses on the samples are presented in Table I-B.
5
L},
i
ru
16000-250--044
Corrected
DAMLS& MOORL
