Chevron U.S.A. <br /> Page 2 <br /> 2 .0 PROTECT OVERVIEW <br /> The subject property was developed as a Chevron Service <br /> Y Station until it was razed in 1986. All underground piping <br /> and fuel storage tanks were removed at that time. Woodward - <br /> Clyde Consultants prepared an environmental assessment report <br /> for Chevron U.S.A. dated September 2, 1988. The report <br /> concluded that shallow soil (20 and 30 feet below grade) at <br /> the site contained minor levels of petroleum constituents and <br /> that the chemical quality of the groundwater was not known. <br /> The Environmental Health Division of the San Joaquin <br /> County Health Services required that Chevron U.S.A. conduct <br /> further studies of _the. site to assess the extent of soil <br /> contamination by gasoline related petroleum. On behalf of :• : <br /> Chevron U.S.A. , Dames & Moore prepared a workplan for the <br /> installation of groundwater monitoring wells at the property, <br /> dated March 12, 1989. Upon completion of the study outlined <br /> in the workplan, Dames & Moore released a summary report on <br /> August 31, 1989. The report concluded that residual <br /> - petroleum contamination was generally limited to the upper 20 <br /> feet of the soil horizon.
