The tanks were inspected by SJC-EHD and said to be'
in poor shape with no holes reported . The site was not sampled an
that day and upon the return of SJC-EHD on 12-27-91 the tank pit
had been filled with water and inoculated with "superbugs" , a
biaremediation bacteria . In addition the spoils had been spread
Out and were being sprinkled with water containing the bacteria .
Water at this time was standing at about 4 feet from the lip of
the tank pit . Three spoils samples and one tank pit water sample
was collected by SJC-END at this time.
As the site remains, the pit and spoils pile are open to the
air and enclosed within a six foot cyclone security fence.
PREV I QUS TESTING
The two diesel tanks were pressure tested annually from 1956
through 1989 and passed within NEPA limits.
