The shelter for the dogs should be constructed in such a manner <br /> as to be easily accessible for cleaning and servicing. <br /> b. Interior walls of the shelter and associated maintenance room <br /> should be easily cleanable finish, preferably of painted plaster <br /> or concrete. <br /> c. The shelter floor and the immediate feeding area within pens or <br /> dog runs shall be of smooth concrete, coved on edges and graded <br /> toward a floor drain leading to legal sewage disposal facilities. * <br /> d. The remainder of each pen or dog run may be smooth earthpack, <br /> preferably covered with pea gravel to a depth of three inches. <br /> e. A convenient water supply and legal waste water disposal facil - <br /> ities shall be available for washing food preparation equipment, <br /> bathing of animals, as well as washing down shelters and pens or <br /> dog runs. <br /> f. Animal food will be stored and fed in a manner which will not <br /> attract or serve as horborage or breeding site for flies or <br /> rodents. <br /> g. Applicant shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Health <br /> District that he has appropriate facilities and means for daily <br /> cleaning . and disposal of dog droppings from pens or shelter <br /> without creating a nuisance. Acceptable disposal includes wrapping <br /> in two (2) layers of paper and depositing in garbage can , burial <br /> under 18" tight soil , or flushing into sewer. <br /> h. Application for permit and fee must be submitted to the Local <br /> Health District for operation. <br /> * Size of septic system shall be based on 1200al . septic tank plus <br /> 15 gal/cage or 10 gal/dog (use highest total q} . <br /> ** For new kennels disposal must be in septic system or sewer. <br /> EH 07 01 9/84 <br />
