(Apex), is pleased to provide Moore Petroleum, Inc. (Moore Petroleum)
with this Confirmation Soil Boring Workplan for the above-referenced property. A site location
map is presented as Figure 1.
BACKGROUND
Apex began work at this site on June 14, 1995, after the groundwater monitoring conducted on
May 9, 1995, by Emcon_ Prior to Emcon, work conducted at the site included subsurface
investigations and groundwater monitoring by Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc., of Rancho
Cordova, Nations Groundwater Associates of Sacramento, and Aegis Environmental, Inc.
(Aegis), of Roseville, California. Site details may be found in a "Quarterly Groundwater
Monitoring Report," dated April 14, 1995, submitted to Moore Petroleum by Emcon.
In early 1995, Emcon installed a soil vapor extraction system and a groundwater treatment system
at the site. The soil vapor extraction system consisted of a Remediation Service, Int'i Spray
Aeration Vapor Extraction (S.A.V.E.) and was installed per San Joaquin Valley Unified Air
Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) permit conditions. The vapor extraction system consists
of an internal combustion engine with catalytic converters mounted on theexhaust pipe. On
November 27, 1996, Moore Petroleum received a Ietter from San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division giving their approval to shut down the vapor extraction system due to low
hydrocarbon extraction rates. To date, the vapor extraction system has extracted approximately
2,390 lbs. ofTPH, as gasoline, and 7.8 lbs. of benzene.
