a ,y <br /> r <br /> Vapor Extraction System Sample Calculations <br /> Moore Petroleum,Inc, 14800 W Frontage Road,Manteca,CA <br /> CalcWafing Daily Extraction Ratefor-Liq <br /> Once green the liquid analytical results in ug/l, a volumetric extraction rate may be calculated in <br /> pounds per gallon(Ib/gal) <br /> The sample calculations will be focused on the sampling event which occurred on February 28, <br /> 1995 This sampling event yielded concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH), as <br /> gasoline, at 2,200 ug/!, and a benzene concentration of 510 ug/l. <br /> The method for calculating volumetric extraction rates is to take the analytical concentrations <br /> which are reported m ug/l and, using standard conversions, convert this value to units of pounds <br /> per gallon The result will be the volumetric extraction rate in lb/gal An example of tins method <br /> is as follows <br /> concentration ( g <br /> 1 Ib =volumetric extraction rate( lb 0 2642 gal 4 54x10 8µg gal <br /> If this method is applied to the TPH, as gasoline, concentration, the following volumetric <br /> extraction rate results <br /> 2,200119-x I l x I lb = 1 8E-05 lb TPH as gasoline <br /> 1 0 2642 gal 4 54x108 R9 gal <br /> Thus method can also be applied to the analytical results for benzene on this date The result is as <br /> follows <br /> 510 Pg x 11 x 1 lb = 4 3E-06 Ib TPH,as gasoline <br /> 1 0 2642 gal 4 54x10 8µg gal <br /> Once the volumetric extraction rates are known, the cumulative quantities of TPH, as gasoline, <br /> and benzene need to be calculated. It will be assumed that the average volumetric extraction rate <br /> for a particular period will lie somewhere between the most recent volumetric extraction rate and <br /> the previously calculated volumetric extraction rate. It will be assumed that a good <br /> approximation of the average volumetric extraction rate for a particular period of time will be the <br /> most recent volumetric extraction rate averaged with the previously calculated volumetric <br /> extraction rate. <br />
