The i <br /> Central Vailey Province is bordered to the east by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and to the west by the <br /> Coast Range.. Surface geology in the Manteca area consists primarily of recent alluvium underlain by the <br /> Victor Formation. Both units consist of gravel,sand, and clay lenses. The combined thickness of both <br /> --units typically does not-exceed-150 feet <br /> i The Victor Formation crops out as a band approximately 15 Hiles wide in the east central portion of the <br /> ice• county and extends the entire length of the county. The Victor Formation dips gently to the west,where <br /> it interfingers with flood basin deposits about 3 miles west of Manteca. <br /> j <br />
