However, we do know the number and type of existing fixtures, as well as the proposed fixture
types to be installed in the Hospitality Room. Therefore, the only plausible scientific method to
estimate flow volumes without knowing the number of people, is to estimate flow volumes under
"worst-case scenario" conditions based on fixtures.
The following is an itemization of the existing and future fixture units within the Clubhouse/Future
Hospitality Room:
Existing;Men's RR: Existing Women's RR: Existing Office RR:
1 Toilet/Stalls 3 Toilets/Stalls 1 Toilet
2 Urinals 3 Sinks 1 Sink
3 Sinks
Future Fixtures:
1 Bar Sink
1 Triple (3 Compartment) Sink
1 Hand Sink
Estimating a fixture usage of one use, every ten minutes (excluding the Office RR since this is
private and rarely used) over an 8-hour time period,we find the following:
Men's RR:
1 Toilets/Stalls x 2 gals/use(1.6 gpf+0.4 gals sink hand wash)=2 gals/use x 6 uses/hr x 8 hrs=96 gals
2 Urinals x 1.4 gals/use(1.0 gpf+0.4 gals sink hand wash)=2.8 gals/use x 6 uses/hr x 8 hrs= 134 gals
Women's RR:
3 Toilets/Stalls x 2 gals/use(1.6 gpf+0.4 gals sink hand wash)=6 gals/use x 6 uses/hr x 8 hrs=288 gals
2 Urinals x 1.4 gals/use(1.0 gpf+0.4 gals sink hand wash)=2.8 gals/use x 6 uses/hr x 8 hrs= 134 gals
Estimated flow volumes for the future Hospitality Room Sinks are somewhat more difficult to
project. However, we will use 10 gallons/sink/hr:
3 sinks x 10 gals/hr/sink= 30 gals/hr x 8 hrs=240 gals
Therefore, a projected Average Daily Flow(ADF) from the existing and proposed expansion =
96+ 134 + 288 + 134 + 240 = 892 gals/day
Wastewater Flow Characteristics
T d_pre os itabl Room is to be designated as a"Catering Kitchen."
ere will ben king within the entirefacility; food will be brought in, with on-site warming
ovens to keep food warm. oo wasted must be, handled as solid wastes and
disposed of in the trash. Therefore, there should be no concentrated organic loading. The
characteristics of the wastewater flow will be blackwater from toilets, with smaller volume of
graywater from the sinks. Additional wastewater constituents may consist of alcoholic drinks,
coffee, juices or other similar type liquids to the system. No industrial or commercial chemicals,
solvents, etc. are to be introduced into the septic system.
Chesney Consulting
