Geological Technics kc.
1101 7`h Street
Modesto,California 95354
(209)522-4119/Fax(209)522-4227
REPORT
Soil Investigation
3995 S. Hwy 99
Stockton, CA
Project No. 1117.2
January 20, 2004
1.0 INTRODUCTION
On August 25, 2003 Geological Technics completed a Phase I Environmental site
Assessment for Del Valle Property in regards to the subject property. A Recognized
Environmental Condition on the site was a Former Underground Storage Tank (UST). The
Property had a 7000-gallon UST south of a building labeled "welding shop" in San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department's file. All testing done at the time of the tank
removal on March 18, 1987 was non-detect for BTEX, TPH-g, Tetraethyl lead, and
Ethylene Dibromide. At the time San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(EHD) did not require MTBE testing with tank removals. However, no closure was given
for the site. According to Doug Wilson and Margaret Lagorio of EHD the reason the site
was not signed off was that the detection limits for EDB, Lead & Xylene were exceeded. A
note in the file stated that the site was not to be signed off because of this.
A discussion with Margaret Lagorio of EHD regarding what needs to be done to achieve
closure indicated that the levels were fine for EDB, Lead & Xylene, though the laws have
changed and the site needs to be tested for the oxygenated fuel compounds.
On November 18, 2003, we submitted a work plan to San Joaquin County EHD describing
the location of the former UST and our proposed sampling plan. The purpose of this
investigation was to determine if MTBE or the other main oxygenated fuel compounds are
present in order to obtain closure from EHD.
2.0 PROPOSED INVESTIGATION
To investigate the possibility of MTBE and the other oxygenated fuel compounds in the
soil, Geological Technics Inc. performed the following investigation.
1. Tank location search, site and photo scaling
2. GeoProbe Drilling
3. Borehole logging & soil sample collection
4. Testing samples for MTBE by method 8260
