V. EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN <br /> 1. The possi+ emergency situations that may occur at the clean-up Site are as <br /> follows: <br /> Release/spill of hazardous material; <br /> Fire, including the combustion of hazardous materials; and, <br /> Health emergencies resulting from the ingestion, contact with skin or eyes, <br /> or inhalation of hazardous materials. <br /> The emergency response to these situations shall be as follows: <br /> 2. Release/spill of hazardous materials: <br /> (a) In the event of a new spill or release of hazardous materials, the <br /> Supervisor shall immediately evaluate the risks to the environment and/or persons present <br /> at the Site. All spills will be contained with the surrounding dirt and/or the spill absorbing <br /> material on Site provided for such purposes. The Supervisor and each hazardous material <br /> trained worker shall determine whether or not a higher level of PPE shall be used in the <br /> clean-up and containment of the hazardous material, and direct all other personnel to stay <br /> clear of the area. If the hazardous material is known, the Supervisor shall consult the <br /> Material Safety Data Sheet and dispose of the material as required by law. If the material <br /> is unknown, the material shall be placed in HMHA#1 (or HMHA#2 if appropriate) (as <br /> defined below) for eventual testing and disposal. <br /> (b) Proper clean-up or disposal of PPE used shall be performed as per <br /> the directions of the Supervisor. <br /> 3. Eire <br /> (a) In case of fire, the Supervisor shall immediately direct all on-Site <br /> personnel to leave the Site and to proceed to an upwind staging area. A local fire <br /> department shall be contacted and informed that bazar us materials may be involved and <br /> that positive pressure breathing apparatumay Ise necessary. If the fire is small and <br /> discreet, the Supervisor may decide to attempt to extinguish the fire with on-site personnel <br /> and materials. In that event, the Supervisor shall decide what PPE is appropriate and what <br /> extinguishing agent shall be used (after consulting the appropriate Materials Safety Data <br /> Sheet). Five (5) extinguishers shall be kept on site: The Supervisor shall also notify any <br /> other downwind personnel, including personnel on adjoining landowner's property of the <br /> potential risks of the fire and its resulting smoke. <br /> 4. Health: <br /> (a) In the case of any exposure to hazardous material,including ingestion, <br /> inhalation or contact with the skin or eyes, the Supervisor shall apply first aid in <br /> 9 <br />
