CEPA
GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Phase II Site Characterization Work Plan Addendum("Work Plan Addendum")was
prepared by Genesis Engineering& Redevelopment, LLC ("GE&R") in response to the
requirements in the September 30, 2009 Regional Water Quality Control Board("RWQCB")
letter, Conditional Concurrence with Phase II Site Investigation Workplan, Ripon Farm Service,
938 Frontage Road, Ripon, San Joaquin County(see Figure 1 for Site location). The activities
described in this Work Plan Addendum are being conducted as additional defense related
activities in support of the matter of the RF Land Inc. v. City of Ripon,et al. (Case No.
CV025997—Superior Court for San Joaquin County).
The July 7, 2009 Site Characterization Work Plan—Phase II is modified as discussed in the
following sections.
2.0 SHALLOW AND DEEP BORINGS
The proposed shallow boring near the Western Surface Water Sump will be replaced by a deep
boring; as the sump is a suspected source area. Since two deep monitoring wells will be installed
on the Site(see below),the Work Plan is modified to replace the proposed shallow boring near
the Western Surface Water Sump with one of the two requested deep monitoring wells.
Continuous core soil samples will be collected from the monitoring well boring to record soil
type information. Soil samples for chemical analyses will be collected at 20 foot depth intervals.
The soil samples will be tested for the same suite of analytes as discussed in the Work Plan.
Upon completion of the borehole, the boring will be completed as a deep monitoring well(see
below). The location of this deep boring/monitoring well is shown on Figure 2.
All of the deep and shallow exploratory borings will be sealed using a grout slurry consisting of
cement and water. The grout composition and placement will be consistent with San Joaquin
County Department of Environmental Health ("SJCDEH") guidelines and with the concurrence
of the SJCDEH inspector at the Site.
One additional change is being made to the proposed shallow and deep boring program. Based
on access restrictions, the proposed deep boring within the Dry Bulk Fertilizer
Storage/Containment area has been eliminated.
Ripon Farm Services I of 5
Site Characterization Work Plan—Phase II
November 2009
