March 19, 2009 Lee&Alice Schmidke Trust SJ County,Route 99,Post mile 16.6 dba Delta Auto Wreckers E.A.3A1009 3151 So State Route 99, West Frontage Rd APN: 179-100-12 Stockton,CA 95215 Dear Property Owner(s): The State of California, Department of Transportation(Caltrans), will be conducting environmental studies including soil testing/borings for a proposed project,which includes widening State Route 99 from a 4-lane highway to a 6-lane highway. In performance of these studies it will be necessary to enter upon your land identified by the San Joaquin County Assessor's parcel number above. The Department is requesting access to your property to obtain analytical information from soil sampling within the proposed alignment. Work would include excavation to an approximate maximum depth of 16 feet. Soil samples will be collected using a hollow stem auger or direct push rig. Please see the attached diagram of the proposed area of study. Any ground disturbances will be repaired immediately and the ground will be returned to its pre-existing condition. We are asking for an encroachment permit to complete these studies. Additionally, environmental specialists will be out conducting visual surveys of the property. Please call us if you have any questions or concerns. These studies are being conducted in accordance with authority granted to the Department of Transportation as found in Chapter 4 Section 1245.010 of the State Statutes. We anticipate the studies will begin as soon as possible and will continue through December 2009. The second copy is for your files. Response within one week of receipt of this letter would be appreciated.
