•
Mike Infurna [EH]
From: Shelton, Brad [Brad.Shelton@stantec.com]
Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2011 2:43 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Cc: 'Morescalchi, Sergio' (Sergio.Morescalchi@bp.com)
Subject: Former ARCO 443-2478 East Oak Street, Stockton, CA-Extension Request
Mr. Infurna,
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today. Per our conversation,we would like a 30 day extension to
the August 8, 2011 deadline to"submit a work plan to continue to characterize the groundwater plume emanating
from the site"requested in the letter dated June 8, 2011 from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department.
After discussions with Shell's consultant, Conestoga-Rovers &Associates, it appears that new data will be
available shortly from borings conducted between the two sites that may assist in delineating the contaminant
plume in this area. The 30-day extension will allow for additional time for Stantec to acquire the new data and
review it for relevance.
Additionally, Stantec was able to utilize a down hole video camera on monitoring well MW-1S to determine the
nature of the blockage in the well on June 28, 2011. The video revealed a thin gauge plastic pipe in the well just
above the water surface which appears to be a disposable bailer with the top removed. To clear the blockage we
are planning on subcontracting a vacuum truck to attempt to suck it out. Following successful removal of the
blockage the down hole video camera will again be used to verify the integrity of the well. Stantec will follow up
with SJCEHD regarding all field activities promptly.
Thank you,
Brad Shelton,P.G.
Associate Geologist
Stantec
3017 Kilgore Road Suite 100
Rancho Cordova CA 95670
Ph: (916)861-0400
Fx: (916)861-0430
Cell: (916)225-3800
brad.shelton@stantec.com
stantec.com
The content of this email is the confidential property of Stantec and should not be copied, modified, retransmitted,or used for
any purpose except with Stantec's written authorization.
