Geo(ogicaf?ecFznics Inc. S./ Page 3
Gubary
Project No. 775.2
July 13, 1999
sampling by filling the decontaminated stainless steel bailer with water (provided by the
laboratory) and then filling a VOA vial (provided by the laboratory) using the same
procedures for actual sample collection.
A chain of custody document, listing all samples collected, accompanies the samples from
field to laboratory, thereby providing a means to track their movement and insure their
integrity.
3.0 LABORATORY ANALYSES
3.1 Soil Analyses
Based on field screening observations up to five soil samples from SB-1 will be submitted to
Sherwood Laboratories of Hilmar (State Certified Laboratory #1400) for the following
analysis:
• benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) by EPA method 8020
• gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G) by EPA method 8015(m)
• methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)by EPA method 8020
❑ One soil sample will be tested for MTBE, ETBE, TAME, DIPE & TBA by EPA method
8260.
The detection limits for these compounds are listed below. A Chain of Custody will be
completed for all samples collected and tracked to ensure sample integrity.
DetectionLimits: BTEX TPH-UEthers
Soil ([Ig/Kg) ,
3.2 Groundwater Analyses
One groundwater hydro h sample from SB-1, SB-2 and SB-3 and the groundwater
le collected bmin-UW-V will be submitted to Sherwood Laboratories of Hilmar (State
Certified Laboratory#1400) for the following analysis:
• benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) by EPA method 602
• gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G)by EPA method 8015(m)
• MTBE, ETBE, TAME, DIPE & TBA by EPA method 8260.
The detection limits for these compounds are listed below. A Chain of Custody will be
completed for all samples collected and tracked to ensure sample integrity.
DetectionLimits: Ethers TBA
Water µg .
-- 1.o
4.0 SCHEDULE & REPORTING
Geological Technics Inc. anticipates beginning fieldwork no later than 30 days after work
plan approval and upon issuance of the drilling permit. The information gathered during this
phase of work will be presented in a report that will include a summary of the geology as
well as the results of sample analyses. Dr. Ray Kablanow, a registered professional
geologist, will supervise the project. Copies of the report will be forwarded to both the
appropriate County and State regulatory agencies (S3C PHS/EHD and CRWQCB).
