Hwy. 132
Vernalis CA 95385
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the "Quarterly Report— February 2000", dated April 26, 2000, that was
submitted by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) on behalf of the above
referenced site and has the following comments.
The report documents the installation of five on-site groundwater-monitoring wells and
one soil boring which took place on February 8-9, 2000, and the subsequent
development and sampling of the wells which took place on February 28, 2000.
Results from analysis of the collected soil samples indicate one area of significant
contaminant impact. The former dispenser island area had methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MtBE) to a maximum depth of 25-feet below surface grade (bsg), and a maximum level
of 2,700 parts per billion. Results from the water samples analyses were non-detect for
all petroleum hydrocarbon constituents tested for. The report recommends that another
monitoring event be performed, and that a well receptor survey be conducted.
A second groundwater-monitoring event was conducted in June 2000. Quarterly
groundwater monitoring should continue at this site until further direction from PHSIEHD.
In correspondence dated June 16, 1999 PHSIEHD requested that a well survey be
conducted to identify the locations of all agricultural, industrial, domestic, municipal and
other wells within a 2000-foot radius of the site. Please proceed with submittal of the
survey. If you have any questions or comments call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
[.'j1( Ci( iN<rVrcn L-_
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB
Bill Little, AGE
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
