15 April 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0520
Page 3 of 10
south to the Klamath Mountains in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province
are comprised of the California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, respectively. Rocks
composing the basement complex of the province have not been completely defined but are believed
to be metamorphic and igneous in origin. The Great Valley Province is subdivided into two major
divisions designated as the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.
The nearest surface water feature in the vicinity of the property is the San Joaquin River
approximately 5,000 feet northeast of the site. A domestic ground water well is located on the site.
Based on information from Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater- Spring 1996, published by the
San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, the estimated groundwater
depth at the site is less then 10 feet below surface grade (bsg). Based on information from Lines of
Equal Elevation to Groundwater-Spring 1996, the approximate ground water elevation at the site
is less then 10 feet above mean sea level and sea level. The regional ground water gradient flows
toward the northeast, although flow directions may be both locally and seasonably variable.
Information obtained from the UST removal indicated that ground water depth at the site is 12 feet
bsg.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based on the results of the UST removal soil sampling and ground water sample, an unauthorized
release of petroleum hydrocarbon compounds has occurred at the site. AGE proposes to collect soil
and grab ground water samples to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon
impacts. A significant hydrocarbon-impact to ground water has been encountered in the north end
of the UST excavation. A phase of investigation will include the installation of four ground water
monitoring wells. The investigation of the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons at the site will consist
of the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Ground water sample collection and analysis;
• Monitoring well installation and sampling; and
• Report preparation.
Advanced Ge6Environmental,Inc.
