(Horizon) has
prepared this letter work plan for a soil gas investigation at the Quik Stop Station No. 76
(site) located in San Joaquin County, California. The work plan was requested by the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) in the attached correspondence
dated 18 February 2009.
The purpose of the soil gas investigation is to gather data for evaluation of the potential of
soil gas intrusion into the on-site building and evaluation of the enclosed space inhalation
exposure pathway. This work plan was developed in general accordance with the Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) document Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites.
Site Description and Background
The Quik Stop No. 76 site is a convenience market and retail gasoline station located on the
northeastern corner of the int?rsection of East Main Street and South Olive Avenue in a
commercial and residential area of Stockton, California as shown on Figure 1. The level site
is at an elevation of approximately 31 feet above mean sea level. Structures and installations
at the site inclade a station building, gasoline dispenser islands under a canopy, two former
underground fuel storage tanks (USTs) and two replacement USTs as shown on Figure 2.
Former UST systems at the site were removed in October 1998. Soil samples, as shown on
Figure 2, were only collected from beneath the USTs because the piping and dispensers "Vere
located above the USTs. Horizon conducted subsurface soil investigations consisting of soil
borings SB-1, SB-2 and SB-3 in 2002 and monitoring well MW-1 in 2003. Soil analytical
data are summarized in Table 1. Horizon has also conducted and reported on quarterly
groundwater monitoring at 6e site since July 2003. Groundwater analytical data are
summarized in Table 2.
4970 Windplay Drive,#C5 • El Dorado Hills,CA 95762 • (916)939-2170 • FAX(916)939-2172
P.O.Box 5283 • Bakersfield,CA 93388 • (661)589-8389 • FAX(661)589-1456
