Included is a permit application for the replacement borehole for monitoring well
MW-1, a check for $89 for the permit application fee, and a`Licensed Contractor's Declaration
form completed by Gregg Drilling & Testing, Inc. Horizon proposes to use the redrilled MW-1
borehole for installation of the replacement monitoring well and proposes the screen interval for
the replacement monitoring well to be between approximately 57 and 77 feet below surface grade
(bsg).
EHD approves the replacement monitoring well which was proposed by Horizon. However,
EHD does not recommend using the redrilled borehole for the replacement well since itis EHD's
experience that such wells often do not perform as well as wells installed in new boreholes.
Also, EHD believes that the new monitoring well should be screened between 60 and 80 feet bsg
instead of 57 to 77 feet bsg. This is based on groundwater.levels measured between 62 and 65
feet bsg on May 3, 2005, during the installation of monitoring wells at a nearby site at 4040 East
Main Street, Stockton, California. Historically, groundwater tends to drop significantly during
the dry seasons in this.section of Stockton.
EHD understands that the fieldwork is tentatively scheduled for June 1, 2005, and will issue the
well permit application submitted by Horizon.
