Hunter Street <br /> Phase H Site Characterization and <br /> Quarterly Groundwater Report (May 1994) <br /> I <br /> 1.0 Project Identification <br /> This assessment has been conducted to define the lateral extent of contamination from <br /> underground fuel tanks at the Canepa's Car Wash, Park Street (Figure 1) <br /> 2.0 Site History <br /> This site is at the corner of Park and Hunter Streets m downtown Stockton, California <br /> The site is approximately one-quarter acre in size, and has had known soil contamination <br /> since 1990 The original identified sources were underground fuel tanks when they were <br /> removed from this location The contanunation is from gasoline, including B, T, X, & E <br /> The tank locations are shown on Figure 2 <br /> Canepa's Car Wash sold fuel at this site for several years The property is owned by the <br /> Remo Canepa Family One 12,000 gallon unleaded gasoline tank, one 5,000 gallon leaded <br /> gasoline tank and one 5,000 gallon diesel fuel tank were removed 1n 1990 Evidence of <br /> leaks or overfilling of the tanks was apparent near the gasoline tanks Soil samples were <br /> taken at the time of the tank removal from approximately 16 feet below the ground <br /> surface All samples had elevated levels of BTEX compounds and gasoline No other <br /> work has been performed at the site The tank excavations have been back-filled and <br /> concreted to original grade <br /> 3.0 Scope of Work <br /> IOn September 27 & 28, 1993, WHF, Inc conducted three soil borings in the vicinity of <br /> the former underground fuel tanks (Figure 2) The first boring, B-1, was located at the <br /> former fuel island area The second boring, B-2, was located between the two former <br />
