_ Quarterly Monitoring Report,October,1998
Canepa's Car Wasb(Park Street)
--November 18,1998
* _ T Page 5 ..
i were detected in the groundwater sample collected from MW-1. Low concentrations of benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene, and TPH-G were detected in the groundwater sample collected from MW-6. Low concentrations of T
t. benzene, toluene, and TPH-G were also detected in the groundwater sample collected from MW-7.
{. Additionally, gasoline oxygenates/additives MTBE and DIPE_were detected in the groundwater samples r
collected from MW-6 and MW-5,respectively.
The fourth quarter, 1998, laboratory analytical results indicate that the area of groundwater contamination most
impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons is in the northern, portion of the site in the vicinity of monitor wells MW-
2 and MW-5. -
6. RECOMMENDATIONS
Condor recommends that additional investigative activities be conducted to further characterize the extent of
contamination at the site. Further characterization should include the installation and sampling of additional
monitor wells. The existing monitor wells at the site are screened well below the current groundwater table and
do not provide sufficient infonnation pertaining to the vadose zone/groundwater interface. These wells should -
be replaced with well screens that intercept the groundwater table. -Condor previously recommended that
analysis for the gasoline'oxygenates/additives;except for MTBE, be omitted for future quarterly monitoring
events due to lack of laboratory analytical detections for four consecutive monitoring events (Quarterly
Groundwater Monitoring-Third Quarter July 1998). However,-due to the detection of DIPE in the groundwater r.
sample collected from MW-5-on October 21, 1998, we recommend continued monitoring for the selected M
gasoline oxygenates/additives. A Work Plan describing the recommended installation of four additional
monitor wells (MW-8 through MW-12) has been prepared and is currently pending approval by Canepa's Car
Wash. Please call us at(209)234A518 with any questions. ---
i
Respectfully submitted, a
CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES, IN 0 :.
R. David Me de _ oHADf 14ESSE nald F.
