FINDINGS 3 1 FIELD EVIDENCE OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL AND GROUND WATER Petroleum hydrocarbon odors were noted in soil sample duplicates collected from MWI at depths between 20 to 60 feet bsg,from MW3 at depths between 30 to 55 feet bsg, from MW4 at 30 feet bsg and from MW6 at depths between 30 to 40 feet bsg Organic vapor was detected in soil sample duplicates(ustng a PID) at concentrations as high as 445 parts per million (ppm, read as milligrams per liter) from MWI, at concentrations as high as 463 ppm from MW3, at concentrations up to 21 ppm from MW4 and at concentrations as high as 72 ppm from MW6 Petroleum hydrocarbon odor was noted during ground water sampling activities from wells MW I through MW4 and MW6 3 2 QUARTERLY RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT On 24 November 1997, the depth to ground water in wells MWI through MW6 ranged between 33 10 and 34 87 feet below the well casing tops Relative ground water elevations, as measured on 24 November 1997, are depicted in Figure 11 In November 1997, the general ground water gradient at the site was calculated to be approximately 0 004 ft/ft or approximately 19 feet per mile and directed in a northeastward direction 3 3 DISSOLVED OXYGEN MEASUREMENTS ' On 24 November 1997, dissolved oxygen measurements were recorded while purging wells MW3 through MW6 Dissolved oxygen measurements ranged from 0 55 mg/l(MW-4)to 156 mg/l (MW- 5) Dissolved oxygen results are summarized in Table 3 3 �i H1VAL I TII�.AL 11GSUL 1 0 Oi uOiL SA1V.LJL S ' A total of twenty-two soil samples were submitted to CAL for analysis of TPH-g,BTE&X, MTBE, TAME, ETBE, DIPE and TBA TPH-g was detected in soil samples collected from MW I at depths between 35 and 60 feet bsg and at concentrations as high as 1,500 ppm, TPH-g was detected to ' MW3 at depths between 35 and 55 feet bsg and at concentrations up to 1,100 ppm, TPH-g was detected in MW6 at depths between 30 and 35 feet bsg and at concentrations up to 125 ppm ' Advanced GeoE nvoron mental,Inc
