28 November 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0229
4.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the CPT investigation results during the 3rd quarter 2001, AGE recommends:
,w • Continued quarterly ground water monitoring; the next quarterly ground water monitoring
event is tentatively scheduled for December 2001.
• Conduct ground water pump testing at the site to obtain general aquifer characteristics such
as hydraulic conductivity, transmissivity, storativity and drawdown at various pumping rates.
Results of the pump test would be utilized to estimate a radius of influence for the zone of
capture of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons and to evaluate the feasibility of ground water
extraction as a remedial option.
• Install and continuously operate a ground water extraction system (interim remediation) in
the area of MW-1 and MW-2 to inhibit further off-site migration of the fuel-impacted ground
water plume.
%W Installation of additional deep-screened ground water monitoring wells based on the findings
of the existing shallow ground water monitoring wells and CPT soil borings; the screen
intervals for the deep-screened monitoring wells will be placed to define and monitor the
... -..,Nor vertical extent of the ground water plume in each informal hydrologic unit.
5.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of the geologic/hydro-
geologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number
of available data points (CPT data and ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may vary
away from these data points. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
recommendations contained in this report.
V
iw
+ Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
it
