' 15 September 2005
AGE-NC Project No 96-0229
' Based on the data collected during the first quarter 2005,additional ground water monitoring
wells are not warranted at this time and the existing monitoring well network may be
sufficient to complete a site Problem Assessment Report (PAR)
' Due to the significant northeastward MTBE and 1,2-DCA migration evident at well MW-9 over the
past four quarters, AGE recommends installation and operation of an interim ground water
' extraction, pump-and-treat remediation system, utilizing EW-1 and additional extraction wells as
needed,to inhibit further migration of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water off-
site towards the east and northeast Remediation of the dissolved groundwater plume at 4511 Pacific
Avenue, within 1,000 feet of the site, has proven generally successful at diminishing the lateral
migration of contamination off-site and reduced the dissolved concentrations of petroleum
' hydrocarbons and MTBE
AGE has tentatively made arrangements with Mr Mike Manassero, property owner at 4415 Pacific
Avenue for installation of one ground water extraction well on his property An access agreement
was mailed to Mr Manassero on 09 May 2005, a copy of the `signed' access agreement and a
SJCEHD well permit application for the above mentioned extraction well is forthcoming
AGE also recommends installation and operations of an interim soil vapor extraction (SVE)
remediation system in the area of the highest petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil to inhibit further
hydrocarbon-impacted soil (secondary source) from leaching into the ground water AGE will
prepare an interim soil remediation work plan detailing design and operation of an interim(1)ground
water pump-and-treat system and (2) SVE system
6.0.
