Sequoia 819 Striker Avenue Suite 8
IN
Sacramento, CA 95834
(916) 921-9600
Analytical
FAX(916) 921-0100
December 20, 1999
IT Group, Inc
3939 Cambridge Road, Suite 20
Cameron Park, CA, 95682
Dear Pat Jimison
Here are the findings for MTBE from the Arco 6100 projects submitted to Sequoia Analytical during the
years 1992-1995 As requested, sample data from that time period was systematically recovered and
reviewed for any MTBE levels Note that records prior to 9192 had been destroyed, so data you had
requested from 1991 through most of 1992 no longer exist In addition, data requested from 3193 was
unable to be located
Methy-tert-butyl-ether as you know, has come under scrutiny in recent times as a potential ground
water contaminant and as such is now routinely analyzed for, using appropriate methodology
Unfortunately, at the time the samples in question were analyzed, MTBE was not an issue and
therefore instrumentation was not calibrated to specifically look for this contaminant The results
reported from the search Sequoia Analytical completed, are based on the retention time of the
compound in question, and interpretation of several experienced senior analysts The results are
qualitative for this reason but can be considered our best judgement under the circumstances
We have included a table of the results and the chromatograms associated with the analysis for the
samples requested If you have any questions regarding this report please feel free to contact me at
916.921-9600
Sincerely,
V-1-el
Ronald W Bobel
Project Manager
