Box 5811 <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 <br /> I <br /> Subject Status of Environmental Investigation at ARCO Service Station No 6100, <br /> 25775 South Patterson Pass, Tracy, California, and Addendum to Work Plan <br /> Mr Carmel <br /> I <br /> This report summarizes the status of the environmental investigation performed by RESNA <br /> Industries (RESNA) for ARCO Products Company (ARCO) and presents an addendum to <br /> the work plan for additional work at the subject site The site is near the northwest corner <br /> of the intersection of South Patterson Pass Road and Interstate 5, as shown on the Site <br /> SVicinity Map (Plate 1) The approximate locations of the tanks and other selected site <br /> features are shown on the Generalized Site Plan (Plate 2). <br /> PREVIOUS WORK <br /> In June 1990, at the request of ARCO, RESNA (formerly Applied GeoSystems) observed <br /> drilling of five soil borings (B-1 through B-5) at locations shown on Plate 2 (Applied <br /> GeoSystems, July 16, 1990, Report No 30041-1) The drilling was performed to evaluate <br /> whether soil beneath the site had been affected by gasoline hydrocarbons before the <br /> underground storage tanks were removed Gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in soil <br /> samples collected from the borings <br /> I <br /> Roux Associates (Roux) conducted an investigation from November 1990 to February 1991 <br /> in conjunction with the removal of five underground storage tanks and associated product- <br /> delivery lines (Roux, May 29, 1991, Report No AR06776W) The presence of hydrocarbons <br /> in soil within the tank cavity necessitated the excavation of the cavity to depths ranging from <br /> 1 15 to 25 feet below ground surface (bgs) Soil samples collected by Roux from the limits <br /> of the over-excavated tank cavity contained concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> as gasoline (TPHg) up to 7,400 parts per million (ppm) Four new tanks were installed in <br /> the new tank cavity <br /> 0623cZ Car <br /> 30041-3 <br />
