4 0 REMEDIAL ACTIONS
4.1 Soil Excavation and Removal
An unknown quantity of soil was excavated and removed from the site during the UST
replacement activities in November 1990 Delta oversaw the excavation and removal of
approximately 315 tons of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil from beneath the former
product dispensers and product piping trenches on January 23, 2002
42 Free Product Removal
Removal of free product at the site was initiated in September 2000, shortly following the
installation of well MW-1 Approximately 207 gallons (MW-1), 14 gallons (VW-1), 20 gallons
(VW-4), 2 gallons (MW-4), and 44 gallons (MW-15) of free product/groundwater mixture have
been manually removed from the subsurface
4.3 Soil Vapor Extraction
Continuous soil vapor extraction (SVE) was completed at the site between March and November
2004, using two 200 cfm King, Buck & Associates, Inc electric catalytic oxidizers equipped
with 7 5 horsepower blowers The electric catalytic oxidizers were replaced with a Solleco 500
cfm thermal oxidizer in May 2005 Soil vapors are currently being extracted from wells VW-1,
VW-3, VW-4, VW-8, VW-14, MW-4, MW-8, and MW-9 Lateral conveyance piping has been
connected to wells VW-1, VW-3, VW-4, VW-6 through VW-9, VW-11 through VW-14,
VW-16, and MW-2 through MW-9 High concentrations of GRO and BTEX constituents are
currently being extracted from the subsurface As of March 1, 2006, an estimated cumulative
mass of 77,507 pounds of GRO has been removed from the subsurface using SVE A map
illustrating the configuration of the lateral conveyance piping, additional information regarding
the SVE system, historical analytical data associated with SVE, and historical SVE equipment
operational data are presented in Appendix H
K VBp Arco for❑R5W OMReports16100 assessment rpt&scm update doc Page 12 STRATU5
