Mr Craig Mitchell, SJVAPCD July 14, 2005
Source Test Report Project No U6100-16-9
ARCO Station No 6I00, Tracy, CA
Page 2
enclosure, and other pertinent site features A process flow diagram for the SVE system
is illustrated in Figure 3
During system start-up, the following parameters were monitored and recorded on field
data sheets
• Influent flow rate (before dilution) and system influent flow rate (after dilution),
• Applied vacuum on the vapor extraction wells,
• Influent temperature, system influent temperature, and system operating
temperature, and
0 Photo-ionization detector (PID) measurements for organic vapors from the
extraction wells
Influent and effluent samples were collected on May 16, 2005, in the presence of
SJVAPCD personnel Samples were collected in one-liter tedlar bags from the sample
ports (see Figure 3) using a tedlar bag vacuum chamber and an air sampling pump
Samples were forwarded to Sequoia Analytical, a state certified laboratory (ELAP
42374), and were analyzed for gasoline range organics (GRO) using United States
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8015B, and for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX compounds), and methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE) using USEPA Method 8260B Analytical results and chain of custody
documentation are included in Appendix A All field measurements were recorded on
field data sheets, which are included in Appendix B
Analytical results of the soil vapor samples collected on May 16, 2005, were used to
calculate petroleum hydrocarbon mass extraction rates, mass emission rates, and
destruction efficiencies Table 1 presents a summary of the system operating parameters,
analytical results, and destruction efficiencies Detailed calculations are presented in
Appendix C
Based on the flow rates measured and analytical results for air samples collected on May
16, 2005, the GRO, benzene, and MTBE mass emission rates for the SVE system were
estimated to be less than 1 37 pounds per day (lbs/day), less than 0 01 lbs/day, and less
than 0 01 lbs/day, respectively The destruction efficiency of the SVE system for GRO
was estimated to be greater than 99% The results of the source test demonstrate
compliance with the conditions listed in the ATC
K 1$p-Arco for URS16 i MReportslARCO 6100 Source Test Report-500 cfm doc
