Canepa's Car Wash
September 23, 1996
Page -7-
9,0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of the SVE system evaluation and site background, Condor recommends that
operation of the ICU be suspended since the system does not appear to meet APCD permit conditions (i.e.,
95% destruction efficiency). Condor recommends that a 150 SCFM catalytic oxidation unit (CAT-OX)
be installed at the site to extract and treat the gasoline contamination in the vadose zone. The
configuration of the existing SVE wells appears to be sufficient to remove a majority of the remaining
gasoline contaminants in the vadose zone. The system should have an organic vapor destruction efficiency
of at least 95 % per APCD requirements. The system should be manifolded to accommodate various
combinations of SVE wells at one time. The existing ICU may be appropriate for use at the site when
organic vapor concentrations drop to lower levels.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring should continue, including analyses for TPH-G, BTEX, and MTBE.
The groundwater mounding beneath the site should be further investigated in an attempt to determine the
source. The next quarterly groundwater monitoring event is scheduled for January, 1997. If you have
any questions or require additional information, please call James Wack at (209) 668-9234.
Respectfully submitted, QpQSEdoIONAFy
H
cotib' 00
  T
1
J es F. ac Robert 7. 7o (n _ F 'CpL`FpQ
aff Geologist California Regis
Professional Engineer, Civil
#51592
Canepa:\1707.Rpt
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
304 E .
