Work Plan for Monitor Well Clw,ae and Monitor Well Installation
Canepa's (Pacific) Car Wash
Page 3
will be placed at the bottom of the screen. Blank PVC casing will be installed above the screen to
the ground surface. The well casing will be steam-cleaned on site prior to use. No glue or
solvents will be used in the construction of the well.
A sand pack of #3 Monterey sand will be placed in the annular space to approximately one foot
above the screen. Approximately two feet of bentonite pellets will be placed above the sand to
form a protective seal. The bentonite will be hydrated using potable water. A seal of neat cement
will be poured in the annulus from the bentonite seal to the ground surface and a locking traffic
box will be installed at the ground surface. The proposed well design is shown in Figure 3,
attached.
Condor's licensed land surveyor will determine the location and elevation of the well collar
following the installation of the monitor well, relative to the other site monitor wells. The well
collar will be surveyed with a vertical accuracy of 0 .01 foot and horizontal accuracy of 1 .0 foot.
The measuring point for water-level measurements will be marked on the well collar.
At least 48 hours following construction, the monitor well will be developed by surging and
bailing the groundwater in the well until the discharge water is free of sediment (clear to the
unaided eye). The monitor well will be purged until the temperature, electrical conductivity and
pH of the water has stabilized. All well-development equipment will be cleaned prior to use in the
well by washing in a solution of laboratory-grade, non-phosphate detergent and hydrocarbon-free
water, and double rinsing with hydrocarbon-free water. The purge water discharged from the well
during development will be placed in 55-gallon drums, sealed, labeled, and left on site to await
disposal.
Monitor well MW43 will be sampled as part of the established quarterly groundwater monitoring
program for the site. Sampling, water level monitoring, and laboratory analysis of the
groundwater samples collected from MW-13 will be conducted in accordance with the procedures
established for the quarterly groundwater monitoring program.
Condor will prepare a brief monitor well installation and destruction report for submittal to the
SJCEHD . The report will include a discussion of the field procedures used to conduct the work, a
discussion and presentation of the subsurface lithology, and recommendations. A draft of the
report will be presented to the property owner for approval prior to submittal of the final report.
Upon approval of this Work Plan by the City of Stockton and the SJCEHD, the approval of the
Client to proceed, notification of adjacent property owner (required in the City of Stockton
permit), and pre-approval of the project cost by the UST Fund, the proposed fieldwork described
above can be completed within approximately two to four weeks. Pre-approval of the project
costs by the UST Fund will require concurrence from SJCEHD (in the form of approval of this
work plan in a letter) . Therefore, Condor, on behalf of Remo Canepa, respectfully requests timely
consideration of this work plan.
L
ILA CONDOR
