4
SECTION II
CATALYTIC/THERMAL VTM
THERM-CAI SPECIFICATIONS
IOne (1) GIobal Model 1 VTM Therm-Cat, shall process up to 125 SCFM of VOC laden air,
providing 98+% destruction efficiency of the VOCs listed in Section I
IDuring system operation, VOC laden air shall be drawn by the system blower (B) from the upstream
remediation process and diluted to the appropriate air mixture using a manual valve (A) The blower
(B) shall discharge the contaminated air past the flame arrestor(C) and into the cold side of the primary
heat exchanger (G) where it shall be preheated prior to the gas burner Within the burner/reactor
section (D&E) the contaminated air shall be raised to catalyzing or incinerator temperature by the
' flame front prior to entering the catalyst module (F) or reactor chamber (E) When the vapor laden air
passes through the catalyst an exothermic reaction shall take place The hot purified air shall then pass
through the hot side of the heat exchanger (G) where it shall preheat the incoming air The vapor free
air shall finally be exhausted (H) to atmosphere
A] DILUTION AIR CONTROL:
A manual damper shall be supplied to dilute the inlet air stream during high VOC
concentrations An automatic dilution air system is available as an option
B] SYSTEM BLOWER.
The system blower shall be of the regenerative type The Rotron DR-6 shall be powered by a
5 HP, 230V or 460V / 60Hz/3PH TEFC motor The system blower shall serve the purpose of
providing a vacuum of 4" H G at the rated flow
C] FLAME ARRESTOR.
A met:1 grid type flame arrestor shall be supplied The flame arrestor shall be placed between
the fan discharge and neat exchanger inlet
D] BURNER/GAS TRAIN-
The gas burner package shall be pre-piped, pre-wired and shall have a maximum firing rate of
9nn nno RTT T/hniar TI,P hiirner shall hP ranahlP of natriral aac nr nrnnannn+ratinn
I The burner shall be mounted to allow the flame to fire in the direction of airflow Uniform
temperature entering the catalyst shall be achieved by proper air distribution over the burner and
mixing downstream. of the burner via a flame diffuser The burner shall be selected to bring the
reactor up to catalyst ready temperature with ambient air dunng start-up The burner shall have
the capacity to maintain operating temperatures during VOC free, full air flow conditions
I CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES
GBL-8585
