Box 38$
Stockton, CA 95202-0388
- Re: Canepa's Car Wash, 6230 Pacific Ave., Stockton; CA
Dear Mr. Rowe:
= The purpose of this letter is to document our discussion of the Canepa's Car Wash site referenced
above. The discussion was held in your office on March 22, 1999 and attended by you, Dr.John
Kramer (Condor), and myself.
. Following review of the Work Plan—Soil Boring and Monitor Well Installation, dated
November, 1998, prepared by Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor), you instructed Condor
to modify the work plan to include a vertical component to the groundwater plume investigation.
Based upon your experience from neighboring sites, you indicated that the plume may be as deep I
as '100 ft. below the ground surface.
You requested Condor to research the historic groundwater elevations of the site as related to
installation of the first UST's. You further suggested that the use of a cone penetrometer testing
(CPT)drilling rig would aid in understanding the complex geology of the site. Based upon your
experience, you recommended that discrete, highly permeable zones are present beneath the site.
The use of a CPT will aid in determining the well screen placement to isolate the highly
transmissive zones and better investigate vertical groundwater plume characteristics.
2.
i =
In addition; you requested.that Condor investigate the source of the groundwater mound located ..
in the vicinity of MW-1 and MW-2. finally, you have instructed Condor to maintain the
operation of the soil vapor extraction system that was started March 15, 1999.
In response to your requests, Condor proposes to install three CPT borings on the site. The
borings will be placed in the south-center, the northeast, and the southeast portions of the site. In
addition. at least three additional monitor wells will be installed. These wells will be in addition
to those already proposed for the investigation of the groundwater table. as described in the
November, 1998 work plan.
ENVIRONMENTAL • GEOLOGICAL " • ENGINEERING • GEOTECHNICAL
