PHSIEHD has the following
comments for your response.
As customary for PHSIEHD, an administrative office hearing was scheduled to discuss the compliance
status of the above referred sites, prior to the referral of these sites to the District Attorney's Office for
further enforcement actions. It is unfortunate that a Unocal representative was unable to attend the office
hearing scheduled for July 10, 1997 at 10:30 AM.
You should be aware that the above referenced sites have been referred to the District Attorney's Offices
for enforcement actions associated with the failure of Unocal to comply with applicable sections of the
Health and Safety Code and the California Code of Regulations.
PHSIEHD recommends that you contact David Irey or Diane Kilcoyne with the San Joaquin County
District Attorney's Office, Environmental Prosecution Unit at(209)468-2400 to schedule a meeting.
PHSIEHD has prepared the attached proposed agenda in response to your request for a meeting agenda.
Please note that since the above referenced sites have been referred to the District Attorney's Office,
verbal communications of a substantive nature should be directed to PHSIEHD through the District
Attorney's Office.
As always it is PHSIEHD's hope that Unocal will comply with the laws, regulations and policy's that govern
underground storage tanks in the State of California.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Marg7aW/r14et L gorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
Enclosure: Proposed agenda
cc: David Irey, San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
cc: Bob Boust, Unocal
cc: Ed Ralston, Unocal
cc: Greg Gurss, Geostrategies
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
