April 28, 1988 AGS job No. 038012-1
Former UNOCAL Service Station, Stockton, California
In response to these initially detected hydrocarbon contamination
levels, further excavation of the gasoline tank cavity to a total
depth of approximately 30 feet was undertaken as requested by
UNOCAL and approved by the SJLHD. This is the approximate depth
of the ground--water surface at the site, and ground water entered
the cavity several hours after excavation was completed.
Although levels of remaining hydrocarbon contamination below the
former tanks are low (sample 5-0406-13A, Table 1) , the proximity
to the ground-water table and levels of contamination remaining
in they excavation sidewalls imply a need for further site
assessment. With the authorization of UNOCAL Corporation,
Applied GeoSystems is currently preparing a proposal which
presents a program for the delineating the vertical and lateral
extent of contamination. The purpose of the proposed
~ investigation would be to assess whether the presence of
contaminants has had, or is likely to have, an adverse impact on
local ground-water resources.
LIMITATIONS
This report was prepared in accordance with generally accepted
standards of environmental geological practice in California at
the time this investigation was performed.- This-investiga ion---- ---
9
,4pp,11ed GeOSysAMS
